UPDATE: Examples of the text messages Russell sends out:

*For Thursday, 2 April*

Pray:

Take a full minute right now to pray. Ask God to give you faith.  Fix your eyes on Jesus and call out to him for help in your time of trouble.

Read:

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. After dismissing the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. Well into the night, he was there alone. Meanwhile, the boat was already some distance from land, battered by the waves, because the wind was against them. Jesus came toward them walking on the sea very early in the morning. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified. "It's a ghost! " they said, and they cried out in fear. Immediately Jesus spoke to them. "Have courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." "Lord, if it's you," Peter answered him, "command me to come to you on the water." He said, "Come." And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me! " Immediately Jesus reached out his hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt? " When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those in the boat worshiped him and said, "Truly you are the Son of God." - Matthew 14:22-33

*For Friday, 3 April*

Pray:

Take a full minute right now to pray. With your words, acknowledge that God is the author of life and has all authority to give and take away. Thank God right now for the things in your life that He’s given you. Confess to Him any sin of acting as though you have any authority that actually only belongs to Him.

Read:

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before him. God is our refuge. Selah. Common people are only a vapor; important people, an illusion. Together on a scale, they weigh less than a vapor. Place no trust in oppression, or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, don't set your heart on it. God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: strength belongs to God, and faithful love belongs to you, Lord. For you repay each according to his works. - Psalm 62:5-12

*For Monday, 6 April*

Pray:

Take a full minute right now to pray. Confess your weaknesses to God and ask for His grace and strength to persevere today.

Read:

While he was going, the crowds were nearly crushing him. A woman suffering from bleeding for twelve years, who had spent all she had on doctors and yet could not be healed by any, approached from behind and touched the end of his robe. Instantly her bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the crowds are hemming you in and pressing against you." "Someone did touch me," said Jesus. "I know that power has gone out from me." When the woman saw that she was discovered, she came trembling and fell down before him. In the presence of all the people, she declared the reason she had touched him and how she was instantly healed.

“Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has saved you. g Go in peace.” - Luke 8:42-48

*For Tuesday, 7 April*

Pray:

Take a full minute right now to pray. Ask God to give you wisdom on how to do what he wants and how to make the most of this time.

Read:

Pay careful attention, then, to how you live— not as unwise people but as wise— making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don't be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. And don't get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit: speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ. - Ephesians 5:15-21
