Updates to Following and Fishing: Getting Started

FFGS Cover

I've made a few minor changes to Following and Fishing: Getting Started.

This is the resource we use in foundational discipleship for new believers. We work through the Seven Commands of Christ and dip into the Seven Skills along the way.

The only major change is to the Seven Stories of Hope (page 23) that we use to disciple people to conversion. I've changed the order and some of the stories.

The new list:

  • The woman who wept at Jesus’ feet (Luke 7:36-50).
  • Who does God accept? (Luke 18:9-17).
  • A hole in the roof (Luke 5:17-26).
  • Two lost sons (Luke 15:11-32).
  • A hard road (Matthew 16:21-26).
  • Jesus’ death and resurrection (Mark 15-16:8).
  • An unexpected guest (John 21:19-31).

So, who could you invite to do a Discovery Bible Study? Do it in their world, not yours. Enter their home. Eat their food. Ask them which of their friends and family they could invite. All you need is a simple process, like discovery bible study, two or more people, the living Word of God and the presence of Jesus through his Holy Spirit. Disciple people to conversion.
