Windswept greetings from Floyd McClung to Aussie church planters via Dave Lawton. He shares a few gems on what it takes to fuel church planting movements. The outsider-insider distinction is very significant. I was challenged by the comments on prayer.

The trouble with missionary movements
I had sought out someone with a lot of experience in church planting movements who could help me make sense of what I was learning. There’s one line I will never forget—”We’ve never seen a church planting movement without persecution.”
The fall from greatness
I’ve come to see institutional decline like a staged disease: harder to detect but easier to cure in the early stages, easier to detect but harder to cure in the later stages. An institution can look strong on the outside but already be sick on the inside, dangerously on the cusp of a precipitous fall. [...]
How Brian McLaren lost his way
Brian’s new kind of Christianity is quite old. And the problem is that it’s not old enough. England Before and After Wesley
It is the plain old Christianity that I teach. John Wesley As British Methodists consider their bleak future, we would do well to remember the contribution of their founder, John Wesley. In an excellent article Donald Drew describes England before and after Wesley. He explains what was at the heart of Wesley’s world changing movement, [...]
