As the Nestorians pushed east as far as India and China, the wild Celts and Anglo Saxons were moving south and east. As the map of Europe below shows.

Meanwhile where was the Roman church with all it’s learning, wealth and political power?

    I think you mean the Nestorians were pushing East.

    Meanwhile, Latin was still the language of the Celtic church and learning. No point beating up a Roman church by anachronistically projecting R.Catholicism back onto it.

    One of Catholicism’s – by that I mean the Church based at Rome – main effects in Britain was to displace Celtic Christianity as the dominant Christian expression in the British Isles.
